Default New Rare Materials for Hardcore Gamers, instead of Minipets

I find it absolute terrible for all of us, which want to be known a "Perfectionizers" someday, either by friends and or guild mates, or even randomous people maybe, that in Guild Wars exist such rare limited minipets, that they get used as main way to become "super rich".

Most of those limited rare minipets reached due to their limitation instantanous such high insanous prices, far over the thousands of extos, so that even now other items get used for trades, just to reduce the insane amount of ectos again back to an amont of items, that is easier accumultated together by powerfarming(botting) for agees platin together.
Items like (duped) Armbraces of Truth, which are 100 Platin and some ectos worth, by this way you can at least reduce the price of those rare minipets just to ectos, by trading 1 Armbrace and xxxx ectos ...but when I hear now, that a Mini polar Bear has traded for over 1000 Armbraces of Truth.. then this goes way beyond TOOO FAR with rarity.

You Dev's of Anet already stated, that there will be more ways in future to get those pets, but only some new Contests every now and then will be NOT enough... those Minipets MUST HAVE to get rid from their stupid senseless limitations.
They must have to receive some ways of unlimited sources, which can be very rare, but NOT impossible (similar to Mallyx drop rate).

However... whatever we wil suggest about them, there will be ever the whining Hardcore Gamers, beign unhappy about it, that they would losesome items, for those they can powertrade for, so I got the idea about giving them an alternative to Rare Minipets, so that the Minipets can become more common, but the hardcore Gamers won't lose their reason to goal for uber richness...

My solution are new very rare "rare material". 3 new Metals.

Damascus, Orichalcum and Mythril.

Those 3 materials would become the 3 most rarest materials out of all rare materials and the special thing about them, what should raise the demand for them would be, that those 3 materials would be the only 3 materials, which players could use, to improve by refinements their Armors and Weapons several times, until those things got refined to perfection.

This Equipment Refine System would naturally only work for PvE-Characters and when a player with such a refined Character would go play with it PvP, then the effects would just not be counted, to let the Pvp naturally stay balanced, like PvE-Skills don't count in pvP and can't be used, so would simple the refine Effects be "disabled" on PvP Maps.

Damascus could be used to upgrade the Strength of the Minimum and Maximum Damage from your weapons up to 3 times.
Everytime a player upgrades something by this way, then will cost the next tier more of the used uber rare material.

To Upgrade my Example Sword for not from Tier 0 to Tier 1, it would cost for example 10 Pieces of Damascus Steel so that a Refinement Blacksmith-NPC can harden the Blade for me. Tier 2 would cost then 25 Damascus and the final Tier 3 then 50 Damascus.

My Example Sword would raise then from:
15-22(T0) to 17-24(T1)> 19-27(T2)> 20-30(T3)

Mythril would be used then on the same way, but for Armors then, for example on a Warrior like this:

80/100(T0)to 88/108(T1) > 100/120(T2) > 115/135(T3)
70 (T0) to 78(T1) > 90(T2) > 105(T3)
60 (T0) to 68 (T1) > 80(T2) > 95(T3)

This way improving armor and Weapons by Refine to T3 by slightly over 33%

Orichalcum would be used, to give Weapons and Armors additional Bonus Slots for additional special Bonus Effects, which could be gained only by refining Equipment with Orichalcums up to max 2 or 3 times.

Refining Armors with Orichalcums could result for example in Bonus Max HP/Energy or special Effects like absorbing health or Energy, when beign attacked by a certain Element and so on...

Refining Weapons with orichalcum could increased for example the critical attack rate for the weapon, or give it an armor penetration bonus, or gives the weilder an chance rate to auto counter physical enemy attacks with weapon parries.

Sidenote:
(in the end, such a refinement system would be also somethign i really wish me for GW2 ^^)

Those 3 new very rare Materials would be impossible to craft out of other stuff, they wouldn't also drop from monsters... the only way to receive them by small chance would by as drop out of either Dungeon Chests (those materials are shown as greens) or by chests from Elite Areas like the Deep/Urgoz/Doa/Underworld ect. from which the chance is from area to area due different due to different difficulty levels of each elite area and different sizes of parties.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

So, this should not be a discussion thread....this thread can be closed direct, its just a suggest I want to be read by the devs, nothign more.

The discussion about ultra rare minipets has already its thread... so don't start here anything !!! I will so or so answer not to anything here, when it will be no questions about the suggestion itself. Othewise this thread was just only made, to get my idea out from that another thread to its own thread.

It'll probably be implemented for GW2, but as they like to keep GW balanced, they won't add this stuff. I enjoy reading your cheap shots against rare items and rich people, a lot of whom make their money by just doing simple powertrading with dumb people.

i have known many true collectors in real life from comic books to coins from stamps to bronze statues.

they knew their collections would never be complete but it was collectimg what and when they could afford to buy/bid in an auction and maybe add to it.

you are not a collector but an envious would be epeener if you had a rarity

Its not gonna happen like that, I'd understand if you ment possibly changing appearance of armors but stats...... The point of this game is to be balanced. Keep in mind mini pets to nothing for you in-game. Well except for the "You're all alone" bug XD

But imo i'm all for the give us more mini pets. Why is it like almost all the super rare pets are to coolest ones

Mini beetles for all :P

At first I was reading this wrong... A couple months ago I brought up the idea of 'eternalizing' your armor. Any elite armor could be upgraded (with new rare mats/gems/etc, or simply a new use for ecto) visually to become 'ghostly armor' to match everyone's eternal blades and shields.

But unfortunately, your idea as it stands, will only create an imbalance in the game. The rich will do more damagea while the poor are forced to live with the pvp-level 'minimum'. The maximum stats of armor and weapons, and level cap of 20 are essential to the balance of the game. Unfortunately, this idea just will not work. It would be great to see some other 'elite goldsinks' but not if those goldsinks go against the very doctrine of the GW's balance and time vs skill.

How about an elite crafter for +20%dmg/+10AL (creature type) mods? I feel I have a better chance of getting a req 8 eternal spear than a +20% dmg spear grip vs demons.... and the eternal spear doesnt even exist!

The new word is "Pepeener". Poor Epeener.

I'm in agreement. Making a thread and then posting a footnote saying that your opinion isn't up for discussion because you don't want anyone to see what everyone thinks of it, which, already hints that it's a bad idea, is pretty much asking for it.

Weapon upgrades should stay as they are for balance sake in both ends of the game. There's no reason to change them.

(It's fine if you want them to lock it, but I'd also request it be hidden.)

What kind of a stupid logic ... >.>

First off, I made this footnote, because the idea I've already written in an other thread before, i wanted to brign my idea by this only into its own thread.

Second...when I write such a footnote, that I want not have a discussion, because one already exists in an other thread theoretically, then is this a good reason.

Third....when I'm up for a discussion and want to know the opinion of others about it... THEN I either say this so, or don't write such a footnote.
And here I'm personally NOT up for a senseless double discussion on 2 threads, when I personally only wanted to give my idea an own thread, so that its easier for the devs to see it, as when it stands in the middle of nowhere as "alternative idea" in an other thread.

fourth.... my opinion about the ultra rare minipets and the need of a change of them is UNCHANGEABLE...people could discuss here now endless discussions about this idea - it would not change my opinion

While I'm not a fan of having everything perfect supereasily in PvE, this is just not the right way for improvement. It looks as it was taken straight from a korean grind based mmo, you only forgot to add an increasing chance of destroying the item being upgraded to higher tiers.
It isn't about fun collecting of rarities but about having to reach one tier after another to gain a major power level boost. It's just wrong for GW1 and there are far better ways to do that in GW2.

fail -- while it's one thing to divide the community between the few rare mini pet haves (which is purely a vanity item) and have nots, it's entirely a different thing to divide the community between the few +more damage/armor haves and have nots, which directly affects gameplay, and flies in the face of everything Anet stands for in terms of leveling the playing field.

lfg must have damascus rank 3 or whatever....................FAIL

So then why did you make a thread (i.e. something based on discussing a topic or idea) if you are already decided? Seems rather pointless. If you can't take criticism, don't post!

Why break what is not broken?

A strong point of Guildwars is that you do not need to grind to be able to get to a competitive level with other, there are collector weapons for a reason.

This would just creat more of a seperation, "HAHA YO N00B my weapons is better then your!" instead of "HAHA My weapon is Rare then yours!"

I'd rather have the later.

By the way, this forum is to discuss Idea, deal with it if people don't agree with you or think its not a good idea.

god, just close the thread finally, the idea stands, stood and will never stay personally for discussion.

The reason of this thread was only to seperate my idea to an own thread...

It's stupid posting anything on a forum if you don't want a discussion and preffer that it's closed right away. All that would give you is another useless thread the mods have to take care of, because forums are there for discussions not suggestions for the devs.

Now to disaggree with your idea. You may say that the few rare mini's that are given out isn't enough but it's a start, because you can't just have something that's worth 100k+ hundreds if not thousands of ecto available to everyone overnight. It takes time for these kinds of things to work without pissing everyone off, and well if everyone had a mini Kanaxai everyone would want it as much as pepole want mini trolls now.

As for the armour boosts you should really look up how much of a % of damage that is taking off before suggesting that, as much as i'd love to be able to solo everything hm it would just turn it to easy mode.

I was happy with this suggestion up to the point that you suggested that it gives higher damage and armor bonuses. It was better to see it's PvE only, but all balance is still thrown out the window. The idea of extra bonuses was nice. If so many of some certain rare materials would allow me to use two insignias, or two runes, or something like that on a piece of armor, that would be something that I would consider more in fairness.

Providing in game advantages to reward those that either (1) grind or (2) buy gold goes against everything that GW is about.

That's why minipets and uninscribable weapons continue to remain in the game (because they don't provide any advantages) and nerfed items such as the 20/20 Rockmolder do not.

When you make suggestions for this game, you make it on this forum. Do you know why? Becuase when you send suggestions directly to Arenanet, you get an e-mail with a statement along the lines of "please post here (insert link to fansite list) so that we may see what the rest of the community thinks." The point of this forum is not to be a bulletin board, but a discussion among the community of various ideas to see what the concensus is.
And the subsequent posts after the original are not made to change the OP's opinion of their idea (if you made a post about it on a forum then by definition you think your idea is good enough you would never change your mind about it) but to let others give their opinion on that idea.

On that note, this idea is kind of interesting, but it goes against the entire point of Guild Wars. While I'd agree it would be fun for 'perfectionizers' to be able to buy new sets of armors or weapons that require incredibly rare green materials to craft, the idea that they would give any advantage to said player is completely wrong, at least in GW, and I hope in GW2. These materials, and hence upgrades from my understanding of what you posted, would be available to only a handful of players because of their cost and/or very rare drop rate. That goes against the very idea of Skill>Time, which has always been the true vision of GW.
